Packaging Design and Testing

Packaging Validation & Design

Global Cold Chain Solutions has the largest packaging design and testing facilities in the Asia Pacific region with five environmental chambers. We offer fixed temperature or stepped multi-temperature testing comprising of time and temperature segments. Chamber testing is available from -20°C to +60°C. Our expert team develop qualification protocols for summer and winter conditions to replicate transport and ambient conditions in global temperature-sensitive supply chain.

GCCS have been developing thermal packaging for more than 17 years. Specializing in custom designs and sizes for any temperature application. We specialise in high ambient temperature applications and our shippers and pallets do not require controlled temperature shipping conditions during transport saving costs.

Our unique constructed design allows for flat pack to reduce inbound freight and storage costs or fully assembled ready to use. We stock a range of insulation material including extruded polystyrene XPS, polyurethane, PU Expanded polystyrene EPS and vacuum panels to customise any design.

Custom designs are qualified to any profile and are designed to minimise cubic and maximise payload to ensure lowest cost per delivered dose. We have over 400 different design shapes and temperatures ranges and specialise in customs designs for client. Our custom designs can increase payloads for greater supply chain efficiencies. We use our own phase change materials (PCM) manufactured on each of our global manufacturing sites making our solutions market competitive.

Our team works with pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech and food companies to design, manufacture, test and qualify thermal packaging for products that are required to maintain specific temperature range throughout the supply chain. We specialise in unique temperature ranges.

Thermal Package Performance Testing

GCCS Testing Centre’s thermal testing chambers are able to accommodate projects ranging from small parcels to multiple large pallets. In order to simulate real world shipping conditions, these chambers are programmed with multiple times and temperatures between -20°C to +65°C.

From the development phase to the execution of testing, through to the completion of final documentation, our staff engages with the client to ensure that the test results meet or exceed all goals.

Our engineers provide comprehensive, industry compliant test reports to GMP, WHO and PIC/S guidelines for any temperature and time profile and durability testing including drop testing, vibration, and crush or compression testing.

Environmental Temperature Testing

We provide multiple design options tailored to customer derived specifications. A combination of thermal modelling software that utilises Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and real time thermal chamber testing, results in faster, more efficient evaluations and shorter project timelines, trimming project costs.

Vibration Testing

Vibration testing provides data to support the durability of packaging when it travels through the supply chain.  The vibration of packages at different frequencies and levels account for the magnitude, frequency range, duration, and direction of vibration. The test levels and the test method are intended to determine the ability of the shipping unit to withstand the repetitive shocks occurring during transportation of bulk or loose loads.

Drop Testing

Packages which are dropped in the supply chain is major cause of product damage and loss. Drop testing provides a simulation of anticipated low level concentrated impacts as received by packages during sorting operations and in transit. The test demonstrates the suitability and performance of shipping containers and their resistance to damage in the supply chain. The structural strength of the packaging is critical to reduce risk of damage to the products contained inside.

Compression Testing

Packaging compression testing is a professional testing method for testing the compressive performance of cartons and packaging. Compression testing is applicable to the pressure resistance, deformation and stacking test of all types of packaging.

It tests the suitability and structural strength of packaging to with stand pressure from stacking or other load applied to the packing during normal supply chain activities.
